Kangana Ranaut : A pseudo-feminist

Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut took to twitter last night spreading unnecessary hate comments about award winning artist Priyanka Paul. Priyanka Paul has been very vocal about issues such as mental health and feminism, as well as her struggles. Last night she quote-replied to a tweet regarding symptoms of depression and Kangana replied aggressively, commenting on her appearance as well as trivializing her struggle. Kangana Ranaut, a Padmashri recipient, wrote a series of harmful tweets directed at Priyanka, calling her “suicidal” and “creepy looking”. Although she claims to be a feminist, her entire twitter personality consists of her attacking various women and and underplaying the severity of mental illnesses. She has slandered women multiple times, calling Rhea Chakraborty a “gold digger” and grossly mocking depression as an illness. Her comments are snarky and unprofessional, rarely containing any verified facts. With over 2.6 million followers on twitter, Kangana does little to make India a safer country for women and people struggling with mental health. Her feminism is warped to suit her narrow mindedness. Insecure and filled with contempt, she calls her haters “suicidal snowflakes” and absolutely bashes anyone who doesn’t agree with her. It is dangerous to give people like her a public platform where she mocks appearances while claiming to be a feminist. Her impulsivity online has already ended up doing a lot of harm and she gets away with it every time due to her privileges.
