UK District Judge Samuel Goozee ruled that Nirav Modi can be extradited to India on charges of, among other things, money-laundering. Nirav Modi is believed to be the mastermind of fraud to the tune of 14,000 crores involving the Punjab National Bank. While his defence team argued that Nirav Modi may be suicidal, the judge rejected that argument. Prison conditions in India were also an issue for Mr. Modi, a video given by the Indian government last year seemed to satisfy the judge, and he ruled that they were adequate. While the ruling is a step towards getting Nirav Modi back to India, there will most probably be appeals that could take many months.
